STD TESTING

HPV genotyping as well as CT/GC can be run off of Gynecor's™ TruTest™ endometrial biopsy or Resolve™ Comprehensive Colposcopy, but only if the ECB vial provided in the kits are returned. Gynecor™ believes that it is very useful to examine both the ECB and the HPV genotype on both of these tests, especially with the Resolve.

HPV
If a patient has been recommended for colposcopy and biopsy, chances are they may have already tested positive for HPV in the course their initial Pap exam-especially if they had a diagnosis of ASC-US. However, it is unlikely that Genotyping was performed in order to identify the specific HPV type, (and studies show varying failure rates of HPV tests done at time of Pap. Please reference Peer-Reviewed Articles for more information.)

In addition, it is important to determine if the HPV infection is a different strain of the virus, or the same type re-appearing in the same patient. If the same patient tests positive for the same type of HPV on two separate occasions, that could indicate a more serious condition, which is much more likely to develop into cervical cancer if left untreated. It is important to identify the type of virus present during the biopsy or colposcopy, so that the physician can determine the best follow-up plan possible for that patient.

CT / GC
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are offered as add-on tests for both Gynecor's™ TruTest™ endometrial biopsy and Resolve™ Comprehensive Colposcopy, provided that the ECB vial provided in the kit is returned. In addition, stand-alone tests can also be run off of a vaginal swab or a urine sample. So patient's experiencing symptoms of STD who do not require procedures such as biopsy or colposcopy can be offered a less invasive test to detect Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, or both. Your Gynecor representative can provide the collection supplies needed for both the add-on or stand-alone tests.
